Message to Principal Assessors

Hi Everyone,

I hope things are going well. Generally, if we don't hear from you we have to assume they are!

I know there is a bit of trauma caused by having to enter dates of birth for our returns to the DCFS but Mark and Daniel are working on a way of automating the process as much as possible if you have a lot of candidates. Contact Mark for more details.

Don't forget you need to sign the Principal Assessors agreement on the certification site. It is linked to the first log in page and there is a model statement you can just cut and paste into the space provided if you agree. (if you have any problems just get in touch so we can talk them through) A key part of the agreement is for at least one annual meeting per year for you to ensure even standards across your centre. I'm thinking that it might help the quality assurance audit process to have two new database fields on the certification site. In one you would put the date of the centre meeting preferably at least a couple of months in advance and in the other key outcomes from the meeting when it has been completed. This should not take too much time, we don't need full minutes, just the main points for action. eg "Work comparisons showed even standards across all units but there were some areas of uncertainty in relation to Unit 1 of Gold INGOT. Contact TLM for clarification." Any thoughts welcome. We don't want to increase bureaucracy but we all want consistent and transparent quality procedures to ensure expectations are the same for all candidates.

There is a short customer satisfaction survey on the page after login that no-one has yet filled in. It would help us quite a lot if you took a couple of minutes to tick the relevant boxes. It's very short! We can only assume that we are giving you adequate help and support if there are no returns but it would be useful to know with a bit more certainty. If a consensus emerges that we have got something wrong we do want to fix it. If you think we are doing everything well it would be good to get confirmation, but whatever the case we will try and keep improving things as much as we can.

Finally, I put a practice multiple choice test into the Gold INGOT Moodle Unit 1. Candidates might like a practice once they have done the criteria matching and before they take the Awarding Body set test for Unit 1 Gold. They will need to make accounts on the Moodle site. It's similar to setting up an account on the community site. I'm away doing assessor training in Vermont USA from Wednesday to Sunday so we might have some links to American schools before too long.
