General information for parents
The INGOT family of qualifications is designed to provide recognition of the skills and knowledge needed for operation in contemporary technological society. While learners have to demonstrate basic skills in operating IT applications they also have to show understanding of some of the social and political issues that technology presents. These issues have real impact on everyone from the cost of participation to the freedom to maintain their own information in digital formats. Its no longer enough to simply be a consumer of technology. Citizens in technologically dependent societies need to be equipped to make informed decisions about the technologies they use with implications that reach the very heart of democracy.
Learners that achieve INGOT qualifications will be better prepared for a future society where internet communications become central to globalised economies, voting systems, personalised learning and news gathering. Learning how to participate in these global communities for the benefit of all is central to INGOT certification.
